From the Principal

Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 4 of Term 3! The term is moving quickly, and it’s been fantastic to see students engaged in their learning and involved in a wide range of activities.
Last week’s Athletics Day was a great success—congratulations to all students who participated and showed such positive sportsmanship. A big well done to Xavier, our overall winners, and to all our age group champions. We’re now looking ahead to the next exciting event: the Interschool Athletic Sports in Donald on Thursday, August 22. We wish all our students the best as they represent our school—go team St. Pat's!
Next week is Book Week, and we have a range of activities planned to celebrate reading and storytelling. Don’t forget our Dress-Up Parade on Thursday at 9:00am—families are warmly invited to attend and enjoy the fun with us.
Meanwhile, musical rehearsals are well underway, and it's been fantastic to watch our students developing their performance skills with such energy and enthusiasm. We’ll be sharing more about the show and performance dates soon—stay tuned!
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. It’s always a pleasure to work together to create such a positive school environment.
Warm regards,
Trinity

Book Week

Next week, we’ll be celebrating Book Week, a special time to recognise the joy and importance of reading. Throughout the week, students will take part in a range of fun activities designed to inspire a love of books and storytelling. These will include shared reading sessions, book-themed lessons, library events, and lots of opportunities to explore our favourite stories and characters.
A major highlight will be our Dress-Up Day on Thursday, where students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character. Whether it’s a classic storybook hero, a magical creature, or someone from a much-loved recent read, we can’t wait to see the creativity on display!
We’ll be holding a Book Week Parade on Thursday morning, August 21st, from 9:00am, and families are warmly invited to attend. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the fantastic costumes, celebrate a love of reading, and be part of this special school event.
Book Week is always a special time at school and a great reminder of how books can entertain, inspire, and bring us together. We’re looking forward to a fantastic week ahead!

School TV-Dealing With Disappointment

SPECIAL REPORT: Dealing With Disappointment
Disappointment is a natural part of life that young people will encounter as they navigate through different experiences. It can result from unmet expectations, setbacks, or shattered dreams. However, learning to manage disappointment is crucial for building resilience and personal growth. Young people have a lot of choice regarding how they hey think and respond to disappointment.
Disappointment can be a tricky emotion to deal with at any age. It’s important to understand that disappointment is a normal emotion and plays a vital role in a young person's emotional, intellectual, and social development. Instead of trying to shield children from disappointment, we can support them in learning how to cope with it, as it equips them with the skills for future challenges. Helping children develop healthy strategies for managing disappointment will contribute to their long-term happiness and success. It's like a practice lap on the course to adulthood.

Child Safe Standards
Child Safe Standard 6
Child Safe Standard 6:
People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.
This standard focuses on ensuring that people who work with children and young people are suitable and supported to act in a child safe way. Schools should make child safety and wellbeing a key consideration when recruiting staff and volunteers.
As part of this standard, schools must:
- develop robust procedures to ensure only suitable people work with children
- supervise staff and volunteers to ensure they prioritise the safety of children
- support staff and volunteers to understand their responsibilities.
If you have any concerns or questions related to child safety, our Child Safety Officer, Trinity Johns, is available to support students, families, and staff.
At St. Pat’s, every child belongs.
